Gaining Faith in Every Circumstance

Life gets hard sometimes. The car won’t start, the kids are sick, your boss is mean and that shift you were hoping for just isn’t coming.

As followers of Jesus we know that we walk by faith. We know that circumstances are not supposed to define our perspective but for all of us what we “know” and what we “do” are often worlds apart.

This isn’t because we are bad but it is because we are in process. We are still learning.

So let me offer a biblical perspective that I found in Hebrews 11

“All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth.” Hebrews 11:13 NIV

It says “all these people” simply summing up all of Gods chosen heroes of faith from Abraham to John the Baptist and putting them is one category: people of faith. The interesting thing is that these amazing heroes didn’t receive what they were looking for on earth. This is because they set their affections on the completion. They all chose to live from heaven to earth and not the other way around.

Today I want to offer you a simple truth: hard times produce deep faith. These heroes all suffered hard and confusing times but they chose to trust God and set their affections on His work in the earth rather than their pain.

We can do this too.

We can if we want to. The invitation is apparent.

So today, walk into the unseen. Read Hebrews 11 & 12 asking God to rock your world with His faith.

You’ll be happy you did.
